The recent launch of public healthcare marketplaces (“exchanges”) didn’t go so well. Glitchy websites. Low enrollment. Negative press. Private healthcare exchanges are different. But, it’s no surprise if just the idea of a private exchange makes you queasy. Now, imagine how your employees might react to the news that they’re getting one.

This workshop will focus on the communications opportunities and potential pitfalls presented by moving to a private healthcare exchange. This will be an interactive, hands-on session in which participants will learn:

  • How to assess cultural readiness for a change of this magnitude.
  • How to understand what employees are thinking about exchanges and how they are likely to react to this significant change in the employee-employer value proposition.
  • How to strategically—but honestly and transparently—position why your organization is moving to a private healthcare exchange (is it just more cost-shifting?).
  • How you can prepare employees to understand and accept what’s happening, why it’s happening, what they’ll need to do, and how you’ll help them navigate this new world during and after implementation.
  • How to develop an effective communications and change management action plan that minimizes the noise, maximizes acceptance, and prepares employees to use exchange-provided coverage in a consumer-driven way.
