Senior Health Management Consultant, Willis Towers Watson
Dr. Allan Khoury is a Senior Health Management Consultant with Willis Towers Watson. His consulting practice includes the creation of worksite health centers, the effectiveness of various types of care delivery systems (e.g. primary care medical homes,) population health improvement, the return on investment for clinical interventions, and vendor (e.g. disease management vendors) performance. He also leads the Willis Towers Watson telemedicine practice. Dr. Khoury advises clients on the use of clinical interventions and effective care delivery structures to improve health while reducing cost
Dr. Khoury was the Chief Medical Officer of Take Care Health Systems, a component of Walgreens Health and Wellness division, from 2008 to 2010. Take Care Health Systems delivered care at 360 worksite medical centers, and at 350 convenient care clinics within Walgreens drug stores. Dr. Khoury created and supervised the senior physician and quality management team for the worksite business, and led the supervisory physician structure for the convenient care clinics.
Dr. Khoury spent much of his career with Kaiser Permanente. He was the Associate Medical Director for Medical Information and Clinical Innovation at Kaiser Permanente of Ohio. He created the division of Population Care Management, Prevention and Research to oversee disease management, prevention, health education and clinical research. He was also instrumental in the development of an electronic medical record system, which won the “Davies Award of Excellence” from the Computer Based Patient Record Institute. In the Kaiser national structure, Dr. Khoury was the clinical lead of a Kaiser Permanente team that created and deployed the Population Care Registry, an electronic tool to support chronic disease care. The system was deployed in four Kaiser Permanente regions with a total of 4 million members.
Prior to entering the medical field, Dr. Khoury was Assistant Professor of Molecular Biology and Viral Oncology at The Wistar Institute in Philadelphia.
Dr. Khoury attended the University of Miami, where he was awarded his medical degree. He also holds a doctorate in biophysics from Pennsylvania State University and was a postdoctoral fellow at Rockefeller University in New York. He received a Bachelor of Science in physics from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. Dr. Khoury is board certified in internal medicine, and did his residency training at the Hershey Medical Center.
